CFE, French social security
The CFE (Caisse des Français de l’Etranger) is a social security fund created in 1978 specifically for French expatriates. It enables French expats to continue to benefit from the same social security protection as while in France.
The CFE insures all French expats, with no restrictions as to country of residence, medical condition, or situation, such as a natural disaster, act of war or terrorist attack.
It therefore ensures seamless continuity of French social security coverage from departure to return from the foreign assignment and covers healthcare costs during temporary stays in France.
